Presenting happenings in Science around the Globe, as well as new initiatives here at Decoded.
What articles came through our doors here at Decoded Science last week?
Last Week at Decoded, another fascinating look at the Earthquakes of the Week by Geoscientist Jennifer Young.
What were the most notable seismic events last week?
Earthquakes near volcanoes! A volcanic island chain (the Azores), Russia’s Kamchatka peninsula (also has volcanoes) and, of course, Hawaii.
Genetic Changes to Mosquitoes
This week, we learned about gene manipulation in mosquitoes by Biologist Kristine Tome. Fascinating stuff!
We’re expecting an update on the global weather from March this week, as well as a chemistry article about the Carbon Cycle, and another edition of the weekly Earthquake digest.
Upcoming New Initiatives
The Decoded Editorial Team would like to engage more with you on social media – Would you be willing to take a three question survey via Survey Monkey to help us out?
Every week, we’re going to take a closer look at one of our many experts. This week, we’ll be profiling Chemist Vincent Summers.
Vincent Summers holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, and worked for the National Radio Astronomy Observatory for 23 years. Vincent was involved in NASA’s extended Voyager2 program while there.
Vincent has taken as many graduate-level organic and quantum chemistry courses as were available under the University of Virginia’s Citizen Scholar Program.
In addition to writing for Decoded, Vincent runs a blog called ‘Quirky Science.‘
