Intensive Course or Learn Over a Longer Period?
Most people take lessons once or twice a week, or even less often. The problem with this is that you tend to forget a lot in between lessons – the ‘three steps forward, two steps back’ phenomenon. Intensive courses over a few weeks overcome this problem. However, many people cannot take this amount of time off, not all schools offer this type of teaching, and it doesn’t suit all types of personality. But it’s a point to be considered.

It can be tempting to simply choose the cheapest flying course, but this is not a good idea. In aviation, as in everything else, you often get what you pay for. There may be a good reason why a particular flight school is cheaper, eg less overheads, but there may be other less satisfactory reasons. So do your research carefully.
Choose the Flying School By Feel
Ultimately, pick the school which feels right for you. You may not want to travel too far from home as you don’t have the time; you may not like large airports; you might really, really have liked the school where you did your trial lesson. Other things being equal, go with this feeling – after all, you need to enjoy the course. But keep the above in mind too. And remember, it is always possibly to change school midway through the course if you really want or need to.
