About Doreen Stoneham
Doreen Stoneham holds a BSc degree in physics from Bristol University. She authenticated antiquities for auction houses, museums, dealers and collectors using thermoluminescence (TL) at Oxford University for 27 years, and developed a method for the TL testing of porcelain. In 2008 Doreen was awarded the Gabor Medal and prize by the Institute of Physics for her successful establishment of a world-leading company that authenticates ceramics for the art world.
In 1997, Doreen formed her own company, Oxford Authentication Ltd, and in 2008, Doreen was awarded the Gabor Medal and prize by the Institute of Physics for her successful establishment of a world-leading company that authenticates ceramics for the art world.
Between 1990 and 1994, Doreen was part if an EU funded group working in the Forbidden Zone around Chernobyl. TL was used to compute the absorbed radiation doses in bricks, tiles and domestic porcelain in dwellings in the town of Pripyat and surrounding villages.
